Super Observations

Last night, I participated in a very American activity: I watched the Superbowl.  I was glad to see an exciting game.  The game really did come down to that interception in the last quarter.  Until that moment, I think both teams were playing really good ball and it could've gone either way.  I do think that the Saints had a little more momentum in the second half starting with their recovery of that on-side kick.  Personally, I think on-side kicks are a dirty trick.  But they're legal, so what are you gonna do.  Anyways, I made a few quick observations that I thought I'd share with you...

**The Doritos commercials were hilarious!  By far, the best of the year.  Really, other than those, the commercials pretty much sucked by Superbowl standards.  However, I expected this because I'd been hearing for weeks about how advertisers just weren't shelling out the cash for spots this year.  Darn economy!

**I think I'll apply for the job of bookin halftime entertainers.  Seriously, The Who?!  They needed wheelchairs to get on-stage.  Let's not even talk about last year's fiasco of booking the JoBros.  Two years in a row the halftime show has equalled a fail in my opinion.  Whatever happened to the good ol' days of Janet Jackson flashing her nipple or Britney Spears attempting to rock out with Aerosmith? 

**For some reason, the Saints Kenny-Chesney-look-alike coach gives me the creeps.  I don't know, there's just something about him that rubs me the wrong way.

**The Colts coach did an awesome post-game interview.  He was well-spoken, classy and had his cliches down pat.  (If you've never seen Bull Durham, then you totally didn't get the cliche thing...)

**I get that Hurricane Katrina was a tragedy.  It was horrible and I know that there are people and communities that are still struggling to recover.  However, that does not mean that the Saints "deserved" to win the Superbowl.  I have a hangnail but no one believes that I should win the lottery because of it.  The Saints played good ball, worked hard and beat a worthy opponent.  For those reasons, they deserved to win the game.

**They sell DVDs of the championship team...who buys those?  Who watches those?

More Random Tuesday Thoughts

It's time for some more Random Tuesday Thoughts. Sit back and enjoy!

**We got the baby a big girl car seat yesterday. I figured since her feet were hanging over the end of the carrier and she's nudging up against that 20 lb weight limit that it was about time. She loves it.

**Oldest kiddo lost another tooth last night. He was crying and screaming while hubby was trying to pull it. The minute it came out he starting dancing around cheering about how he was gonna get more money.

**The tooth fairy is gonna be broke real quick if that kid doesn't stop losing teeth.

**I'm gonna be an auntie again.

**Why do husband ask 50 times if you are ready for bed, but don't lift a finger to help out with all the things you have to do before going to bed? I mean, if they washed the bottles or picked up the 2000 miscellaneous shoes around the house, we might could get to bed a little earlier. Sitting there playing with your Facebook zoo and asking me when I'm gonna be ready for bed doesn't get us there any quicker.

**Ever notice how people drive like morons in parking lots (well, that's not really limited to parking lots...) and then blame everyone else. If someone comes inches from backing into you, it is certainly not their fault. Sure, they didn't look before backing out of that spot, but you shouldn't have been driving down that aisle. Duh.

**Hubby is a Vikings fan. I'm a Cowboys fan. It was a rough weekend around here.

**The kiddos brought home their school pictures back around Thanksgiving. I still haven't sent them to the grandparents.

**My 10 year high school reunion is this year. I'll probably miss it though because all the people who still live back there think it's a good idea to have it after school starts.

**Speaking of high school...I'm amazed at how many people never left. We were a big class (600+) and from what I can tell on Facebook, many of them are still there. Not that it's a bad place...I plan to move back when hubby gets done playing Soldier, but I just thought more people would go away...maybe that was wishful thinking...

Homework Can Wait...RTT Can't

Hooray for Tuesday! I love me some randomness, so let's get to it...

**I should be doing homework.

**To avoid hubby's blah-blah-blah about how I should be doing my homework, I am staring at my screen with a confused look, sighing heavily and shaking my head...He thinks I'm doing my homework, hehehe...

**Zoo World is a bad, bad thing....my zoo is worth over $22 million...if only I had that kind of money in real life!

**Why is everyone acting all shocked and appalled by the fact that Mark McGwire admitted to using steroids? Was I the only one that caught on to that back in the day?

**While I'm on a sports roll...Why do some people insist on bashing Michael Vick? Yes, he did a horrible thing. However, the man paid his debt to society as determined by our great justice system. Let him be.

**My favorite color is yellow.

**I think you should all go visit my fave cousin at her blog.

**I want some oreos...not just regular ol' oreos, I want some of those white chocolate dipped ones that they have at Christmas time. I didn't see them this year and I can't get over it.

Responsibility...

So, I'm a football fan. I'm actually even more of a college basketball fan, but we'll get to that later in the season. This weekend was a big college football weekend with all the bowl games. As I watched the games with the hubby and kiddos, everyone kept talking about the situation at Texas Tech. If you like sports even a little bit and haven't been under a rock, I'm sure you've heard the story. I'm not here to take sides or even really comment on it at all. I bring it up because the whole situation just reminds me of an important lesson that we all need to remember as we make our way through life.

Every day we all make decisions. Right, wrong and indifferent. Our decisions often go unnoticed by others. However, we all must remember that they are our decisions. When we make a decision, whatever it may be, we have to be prepared to take responsibility for it. If I decide to eat ice cream for breakfast every day of the week and gain ten pounds, that was my decision and I have to hold myself accountable for it. My example is pretty light-hearted and amusing, but many aren't. The thing with the coach at Texas Tech isn't even the only example I could use from recent news. If there is one thing I hope I successfully instill into my children, it is a sense of responsibility. So many people seem to wander through life without ever accepting responsibility for themselves and their actions, and it's just plain sad to watch.

Random Goodies

**Random goodies...haha, that sounds dirty...yes, I'm very mature!

**I keep meaning to turn the channel but I haven't yet, so I've spent the whole morning watching ESPN...that's my punishment for being too damned lazy to find the remote.

**I love Phineas and Ferb!

**I have to say that I'm pretty happy that the 49ers won last night. I don't know why, but I've always had this aversion to the AZ Cardinals.

**I need to go grocery shopping, but it is payday and I'm procrastinating because I really don't want to wade through the mess of retirees who show up at the Commissary on paydays. We don't really need to eat...

**My Christmas shopping is finished!! Yes, I mentioned it yesterday too, but it feels so good that I feel the need to share it more than once.

**Of course, I still have to wrap and ship those presents...UPS Store here I come. I'm too lazy to actually pack my own boxes.

Alrighty, well, I've gotta go wrap those presents, stick a sharp pointy thing in my eye and go grocery shopping...enjoy the randomness people!

Good Thing It's RTT

I'm feeling a bit random today, or maybe it's more that I can't stay focused on anything for very long today. Anyhoo, it's Tuesday!! That means I get to get my random on, YAY!

**The dogs are about to get their butts kicked out of here. This week, they have chewed up two books, a bra, a baby toy and the nipple off of a baby bottle while I was at school. Seriously, you stupid animals, what's wrong with the CHEW toys?

**I have a paper due in my course on William Blake next week. I need to edit it and re-write lots of it...but I'd rather run a few miles in heels.

**Why do Avent bottles have US ounces and UK ounces? I thought an ounce was an ounce. Apparently, I thought wrong.

**My non-school related reading for this week is Mechanically Inclined. It's about teaching grammar to middle & high school kids. I'm loving it.

**Yes, I'm a nerd.

**I had cereal for dinner last night. It was good.

**Monday Night Football is perhaps the most distracting thing on TV. I end up glued to it and stay up way too late.

**The hubby is a Vikings fan, so yay that they are 6-0...now if only the games would be shown in our area because I may throw large, heavy objects at the hubby if I have to listen to his whining for one more week.

**The number of catalogs I receive has greatly increased since I had a baby in April...I'm certain these two things are connected somehow.

**We don't have a house phone or a microwave.

**My mommy is coming to visit this weekend.

**Sometimes, while I'm on-campus I worry that one of the million squirrels is going to randomly attack me. They have really sharp claws, you know.

Now, I'm off to watch some TV before the boys get home from school and take over the remote control. Enjoy your Tuesday!!

Tough Guys Wear Pink

If you are a football fan like me (or just live with a football fanatic), you might have noticed during today's games that they guys are sporting some unusual colors. The NFL is taking part in Breast Cancer Awareness month by having players wear pink. They've gone all out with it too. The guys are wearing pink gloves, pink cleats, pink-billed hats and pink wristbands. Many of the team captains have pink patches. Additionally, many of the players have placed the traditional pink ribbon on their helmets. See, tough guys do wear pink!

I love that the NFL has embraced this cause. It makes me even more proud to be a football fan! (Now, if only I could convince the hubby that it's CowBOYS not the Cowgirls...dang Vikings fan!)
